A good business analyst is not one other apple in the company. These are the main attributes of a great business analyst:

Intellectual personality

This means the person has to be able to have a deeper understanding of things, to carry out intelligent conversations. He or she must not be ignorant, must always look for the right answer. He must be updating his knowledge and see into the past and also into the future.

Has to be professional in all the senses of the word

In all matters the analyst has to be a professional and must act with diplomacy, understanding the environment and all the key factors.

He is an initiator of change

Not everybody loves change. Many people are afraid of it. Change is threatening and it possesses a lot of problems. But a good BA is an innovator and must not be afraid of change.

He is an innovator

This person always goes around carrying a pen and paper, thinking about solutions. They are always thinking of implementing a great idea without spending too much money or time. He is always trying to improve elements, graphic, statistics etc. He must see the way before the others do and also lead them there efficiently.

The business analyst has the key role of constructing motivations for business decisions. If a business man decides to hire a Business Analyst it means he wants more insight and a person that knows where to get relevant information from, quick and precise. Nobody wants to hire somebody that does not know its way around. It would be like flushing the money on the toilet and nobody wants that. The decision has to be considered thoroughly because it is a big responsibility that will affect the company on long and short term also.
